I have ordered to-go from their many times and the food is not that bad. I personally love their Sweet and Sour chicken. My friends and I decided actually sit in one day and the waitress was not very nice, when we got our water the glasses did not look clean and my friend found a fruit fly in the water. When we were trying to tell our waitress that there was a fly in the glass but she denies when we finally convinced her she cahnged the water and the fly was still in the water!!! Although the food took sometime and one dish never made it to the table we had to remind them about it then only it came. I was not very happy with the service or the attitude of our waitress. If I go again hopefully i will be able to update my review to a better one.

This used to be a buffet we used to go from work almost every week. Now after the remodel, it is a sit-down restaurant. Although the pricing is still very attractive, the food was just awful. The Sesame chicken I ordered used to be much better when it was a buffet. Why they changed this from a buffet, i do not understand. What a disappointment. Goodbye Chengdu.

Don't believe all the reviews written here because a lot of them are old and outdated. They stopped doing buffet and now it's all order off of a menu as of 12/25/2011. The food here is fantastic. Chinese food usually gives me headaches but not Chengdu. My toddler can eat so much there, esp spicy dishes. They recently remodeled and while they are in a weird strip mall location, don't let that distract you from what's really important - the food. If you're more concerned about the decor and the location, you should probably eat somewhere else because you're a dumb hipster. When going to a Chinese restaurant, it's really reassuring to see most of the diners are Asian and we're usually the only white people in the place so to me it's a good sign that the food is more authentic. The waitstaff are friendly and they make good recommendations. They are friendly with children and good for large groups - some of their tables have lazy susans to make sharing easier. They bring food out as it's ready, not all at once which helps when you're really hungry. We usually order 3 items off the menu and we have enough for leftovers the next day. Don't be afraid to try new things - their Mongolian beef is great but they have other dishes that are so good. We are trying different things each time and have not been disappointed in anything.Overall, this is my new favorite restaurant and I hope some of the reviews here are updated now that they remodeled and are open again.

Well folks I have to update my review of my beloved Chengdu. They closed for several months to remodel and retool. In the remodel they went from a tasty buffet to a sit-down menu fair. Sad thing is the taste of the food went out with the buffet warmers. I ordered the Mongolian Beef and if it weren't for the mountain of onions on my plate there wouldn't have been any flavor at all. Adding insult to injury they are now tacking a .50 cent surcharge on your ticket if you use a debit card. Pretty said all around, as I've been a fan since the mid 90's. REST IN PEACE my former love.

This place used to be so yummy, with a wide variety of food ... but now as the economy is getting worse, I guess buffets are taking a hit. Now the food at Chengdu is super oily (probably because it's allowed to sit out for longer), and the selection has been cut way back. Less seafood and meat, and worse taste overall. ...? More ?
